Tommy Cruise is returning to the Oprah Winfrey show. Cruise has not been a guest on Oprah since that last appearance, almost three years ago, on June 23, 2005. If you recall, he was on the show to promote his film, War of the Worlds, but went couch crazy instead, over-acting even more then usual in declaring his love for Katie Holmes.

MSNBC’s The Scoop reports that the show will most likely air during May sweeps. The focus of the show might be the 25th Anniversary of “Risky Business??” Sources claim that other celebrities have been invited to the taping and it will be an “A-list affair.” Could Katie and  baby Suri make an appearance as well?

Perhaps joining the family business, Connor Cruise will make his film debut in the upcoming the Steven Spielberg movie drama Seven Pounds.  Connor has reportedly landed a minor role as a young Bobby Seale, with Will Smith playing the major role of Seale as an adult. Bobby Seale is one of the demonstrators and was tried for conspiracy, in the Trial of the Chicago 7.  Connor, who has grown up around movie sets had to audition for the part just like everyone else! However getting the opportunity to audition for such a part probably had a little bit to do with who his daddy is.

This week’s cover of both Star Magazine and InTouch features the crumbling marriage of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes . And Suri who turns 2 on April 18th, is supposedly stuck in the middle. According to Star Magazine, unable to cope with the pressure of her marriage to Tom, Katie is supposedly seeking a trial separation from her husband. The former Dawsons Creek actress is said to be crushed by the weight of her marriage and plans to star on Broadway using this chance to escape from Tom. Cruise isn’t having any of it and will not allow Katie to move to NYC unless he comes along.

The battle doesn’t stop there. Tom and Kate have been fighting over Suri. A source said, “Tom wants to call all the shots when it comes to Suri. He has a lot of rules, and there’s conflict.”

The news of a trial separation comes after reports  that Cruise wanted Holmes to stay away from one of her only girlfriends in Hollywood - Victoria Beckham, because the negative effect their friendship was having on his wife’s attitude to her own body.

I am not sure how wonderful Katie and Tom’s marriage is but I actually think these magazine’s are getting pretty desperate to outdo each other with sensational headlines and rehashed stories.  Yes Katie is supposedly considering an opportunity on Broadway, which would take her to New York and it probably is putting some stress on the marriage to figure out how to make that work.  But the rest is just conjecture to sell magazines.

MGM studio has once again pushed back its release date Tom Cruise’s World War II thriller “Valkyrie” to 2009, the second postponement for a production that has endured its share of headaches.

The MGM release was originally supposed to come out this July where it would have competed with the Angelina Jolie thriller “Wanted.” But then it was pushed to October 2008 and now it won’t be released until February 13, 2009. I guess they figure the perfect movie for Valentine’s Day?

“Valkyrie” is the true story of a German officer, played by Cruise, who tried to assassinate Hitler. We all know how that turned out and one wonders if the movie itself is also doomed to fail with all the postponements.

The German government initially banned shooting on location at the Berlin site where the plot was hatched and the conspirators executed. After months of national debate that focused in part on Cruise’s Scientology beliefs, the government relented. Here’s a video trailer in case your interested:

Tom Cruise is upset about a new strain of medical marijuana being marketed as “Tom Cruise Purple.”

And when Tom get’s upset his lawyer’s spring into action, and they are taking a serious look at the situation. Cruise’s friends do not think it’s funny that licensed cannabis clubs are selling “Tom Cruise Purple” featuring a picture of Tommy laughing hysterically. A picture of Tom laughing would harsh my buzz?

Like other devoted Scientology followers, Cruise is opposed to the use of psychotropic drugs.

Staffers at several California clinics didn’t want to discuss it, but one pot connoisseur said, “I heard it’s the kind of pot that makes you hallucinate.” Trippy man, pass the bong!

Cruise recently has gotten some lofty acclaim for a cameo appearance as a bald, foulmouthed movie mogul in Ben Stiller’s new movie, Tropic Thunder. At a Paramount studio screening Tuesday night, Tom’s screen role was said to have “brought down the house”  Paramount is owned by Viacom, whose chairman, Sumner Redstone, tossed Cruise off the Paramount lot in 2006, expressing his anger over Cruise’s comments on behalf of Scientology while promoting the studio’s latest Mission: Impossible sequel. Only last week Redstone and Cruise dined together, with Redstone remarking afterwards that they had buried the hatchet.

The pressure of being a stepford wife is allegedly getting to Katie Holmes. It’s reported she has been suffering from dizzy spells and debilitating headaches for weeks. Although the cause of these blackouts and fainting spells is not clear, sources say that dieting and the pressure of being Tom Cruise’s wife may be contibuting factors. While Katie is very thin, she wants to be skinnier and is obsessed with dieting according to Star Magazine.

Recently, I suppose as proof of her waning health, there was an incident at Katie’s favorite restaurant, Joan’s on Third, where she appeared to be quite pal and sick to many witnesses. She unsteadly guided herself out of the restaurant, braced herself against a doorframe before her bodyguard carefully guided her into a waiting SUV.”

Tom Cruise’s alleged contibution’s to Katie Holmes’ health problems are his natural high energy and intensity coupled with his exacting nature. An insider says:
“Katie doesn’t get enough sleep, and hasn’t for months now. She’s tired and drained much of the day because Tom is so wired, and they stay awake until after midnight. He has boundless energy, and she just can’t compete.”

Cruise also goes off for days at a time without explaination, while leaving Katie behind with Surie and a little project to mind. Katie is charged by Cruise to oversee the interior design of their lavish $35 million Beverly Hills mansion. Tom sees the home as a status symbol,” and expects Katie to pull off something beyond magnificent, something Tom can brag about. And Katie appears to be crumbling under Cruise’s unrealistic expectations.

There’s probably at least 60% truth to this story I would guess. But $35 million mansions and all I don’t think it’s easy being Tom Cruise’s wife.

 Radar magazine’s upcoming April cover story  “Scientology Under Siege,”  makes the case that Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and Kimora Lee Simmons are the new celebrity faces of Scientology.

In the article, the magazine said, “The Church has also set its sights on African Americans, opening up a center in Harlem in 2003 and making a strong play for Hollywood supercouple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett.”

Despite an absolute denial from Smith’s rep, sources close to Smith earlier told this column that the actor definitely is becoming a member of the religion.  “He’s been getting more and more involved (in Scientology),” said one source. “And it isn’t just him, it’s definitely Jada, too.”

Not long ago Smith honored the practice of giving ‘a wrap gift’ to crew members after filming ended for this summer’s comedy “Hancock”, with a card good for a free personality test at any Scientology Center.
According to the upcoming story designer and Style Channel star Kimora Lee Simmons has been involved with the Church for years, even lending her recognizable visage to promotional materials used in a children’s school in 2006.The magazine points to a 2006 gathering where Scientology leader David Miscavige “spoke glowingly of Kimora Lee Simmons’ efforts to distribute a personalized edition of Hubbard’s “The Way to Happiness,” featuring her image on the cover, to school kids in New Jersey.” Simmons’ rep said that the recently pregnant designer/model is not a Scientologist.

Some you might not have known about include musician Beck, former “South Park” chef Isaac Hayes (Hayes reportedly quit the show after it spoofed the religion), Juliette Lewis, Giovanni Ribisi (whose sister happens to be married to Beck), FNC reporter Greta Van Susteren and the voice of Bart Simpson, Nancy Cartwright.

Update:   Will Smith, who is a good friend of Scientology poster boy Tom Cruise, denies he is a church member. “You don’t have to be Jewish to be a friend of Steven Spielberg. You don’t have to be a Muslim to be a friend of Muhammad Ali. And you don’t have to be a Scientologist to be a friend of Tom Cruise,” Smith tells us. “I am a Christian. I am a student of all religions. And I respect all people and all paths.”

Despite reports she distributed the Scientology book “The Way to Happiness” to N.Y. school kids, Simmons’ reps also denied her involvement.

A new video has emerged of a 2004 Tom Cruise, birthday party. What’s interesting about this video beyond Cruise going all out singing and dancing, is that it allegedly takes place on the Scientology Cruise Ship. In the Church of Scientology’s statement/retort on the Tom Cruise bio recently written by Andrew Morton, they say that Tom Cruise does not hold any position of authority in the church, but the website Gawker points out that they’re willing to spend what must be at least six figures on this party for him.

Anyway the Scientology folks threw quite a party for Tom. It features footage of a band playing the theme songs from Top Gun and Mission Impossible while Cruise whoops and claps in the front row. Then Cruise takes the stage to sing a duet of “That Old Time Rock and Roll.” He jams out with the singer, dances around busting out some of the moves we first saw in Risky Business, and looks like he’s having the time of his life. At the end Cruise thanks the audience: “This is incredible… It’s the best birthday ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, and I mean ever!”
