Following the sudden death of her father Emilio Diaz, actress Cameron Diaz, and her family has reached out to Access Hollywood through a rep, suggesting mourners donate to some of his favorite organizations in lieu of flowers.A rep for the star said the Diaz family has suggested donations be made to Surfrider.org or Reefcheck.org in Emilio’s name instead of sending flowers.

Both organizations are non-profits, dedicated to oceanic conservation.

Emilio Diaz died on Tuesday due to pneumonia. He was 58.

Cameron released the following statement to Access Hollywood on Wednesday:

“My mom, sister and I are deeply appreciative of the overwhelming outpouring of love and support during this difficult time for us and all of our family. My dad was loved by so many people and his humor and spirit will always live on in our hearts.”

Not sure if this was ever much of a relationship but after enjoying a string of intimate dates, with new fella, Gerard Butler, the Scottish stud appears to have moved on to new pastures.

While Cam mourned her dad, the 300 star was seen swapping saliva with Cheryl Burke,  a pro on US TV show Dancing With The Stars.

The couple were seen all over one another at a bash thrown by US Weekly mag at Beso restaurant in LA.

TMZ is reporting that Cameron Diaz’s father died suddenly early this morning.  He was said to be a 58-year-old  man in “terrific health,” but recently developed the flu which then turned into pneumonia.  Emilio was a second generation Cuban-American who worked as a foreman for an oil company. He had a bit part in his daughter’s film “There’s Something About Mary” as “Jailbird.”
Cameron is currently filming her upcoming flick “My Sister’s Keeper.” A source on the set tells us production on the film was shut down today.  Our condolences to the Diaz family.

Actress Cameron Diaz gives a pretty long and initmate interview in the new issue of W magazine. Even though she’s the third-highest paid actress in Hollywood (after Reese Witherspoon and Angelina Jolie), commanding $15 million a movie she seems to long to take time off and enjoy life. She talks about her dreams, future goals, and her favorite cities.  Here are some highlights from the interview:

Cameron on whether being an actress was her fantasy as a kid:
“Oh, no. I wanted to be a zoologist, to study the sociology of animals. But that’s pretty much what I do now anyway. I thought I’d be on the plains of Africa watching lions, but instead I’m in Hollywood watching train wrecks.” And then she busts out laughing and adds hastily, “I’m just kidding.”

Cameron on her future goals:
“Just kind of taking more time getting to know myself. It sounds so corny that I can’t believe I even just said that, but, you know, there comes a time when you really have to get to know who you are…I’ve just been figuring out what interests me and spending time with people who are important to me and being present in my own life.”

Cameron on Las Vegas:
“I looooove Vegas. It’s such an easy trip from L.A., and there’s always a hotel room because there’s about a billion of them, but honestly, you don’t even really need one if you’re just going for the weekend!”?

Cameron on living in Los Angeles:
I’m done with L.A. Those guys [the paparazzi], you can’t get away from them. You have no options because everybody’s in a car.

Cameron on living in New York:
Here, I can walk down the street like everybody else. Not everybody is there to be rich and famous or attach themselves to rich and famous people. People want nothing from you. They just want to say, like, ‘Hey, how’s it going, Cameron?’ I like that interaction. I like to be in a place where I can be open to people and not worry about the consequences.
You can walk down the street and end up in a gallery or some wonderful ethnic-food restaurant, or you can stop in a shop that sells, I don’t know, staplers from all over the world!” she enthuses, sounding, endearingly, more like a tourist than a movie star. “You don’t get that in L.A.—that kind of, I don’t know, specialty.

Gerard Butler let it be known he is not dating Cameron Diaz or at least sleeping with her.

Gerard was asked by photographers about the rumors that he’s seeing Cameron and he said, “If I take a dog for a walk, apparently I’m f**king my dog?“

So there you have it.  He has taken Cameron out for a walk but not out for a ride.

Cameron Diaz and Gerard Butler are said to be a new hot item. Cameron and the buff Scottish actor have been reportedly seen on three dates in just 10 days. A source caught them sharing drinks at Shutters Hotel last week.

“They walked up to the balcony area to look at the sunset. He had one arm round her waist and the other on the small of her back. She kept giggling and touching his chest to whisper in his ear. They obviously had a good night.”

Cameron, 35, and Butler, 38, have also been out at Teddy’s Bar in the Roosevelt Hotel in LA, where fellow clubbers say there was a lot of “thigh touching”.

And a couple of days before that they dined at The Chateau Marmont hotel.

Cameron hasn’t been staying with anyone for too long since splitting with Justin Timberlake, so will see if it’s another short fling or not.

Cameron Diaz and Scott Speedman enjoyed a romantic interlude earlier this month in the Bahamas. Scott Speedman, whom you might recall from the “Felicity” series, has a house down in the Bahamas. The twosome were spotted  frolicking on the beach, and doing some smooching, according to a GateCrasher source.

 In this romantic comedy, Diaz and Kutcher play an unlikely pair bonded together after wandering into a wedding chapel after a few too many drinks — as if that ever happens in Las Vegas! Also, one of them wins a jackpot with the other one’s quarter - imagine that!

Stuck together by unholy matrimony and moola, the movie finds the two driving each other crazy in attempts to take all the money. In the end they of course fall in love, Las Vegas style.
