Steve-O hospitalized on suicide watch

Steve-O hospitalized on suicide watchStar magazine is reporting that Steve-O has been hospitalized and is being held on a suicide watch after threatening to take his own life. He recently was in the news after his March 3rd arrest and brief jailing, following a dispute with a neighbor.

According to an insider, the Jackass star was taken to the emergency room on Sunday afternoon at L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical. After drug tests, he was checked into the Thalians Mental Health Center known for doing crisis intervention where he was put on a 72-hour hold. That has since been extended to 14 days, the magazine is reporting.

“Steve is stabilized on meds at this point,” the source says. “He was also treated for burns on his skin as if he had been putting cigarettes out on his own body.”

The reality TV star is said to suffer from bipolar disorder (This is sounding a lot like Britney Spears’ situation).

A family member tells the mag: “Right now he’s in his extreme mania.  His concerned friends and family are hoping he’ll seek treatment. He doesn’t need jail, he needs therapy. We’re just really hoping that this will be the wake-up call that gets him back to himself.”

The situation escalated from the previously mentioned arrest to e-mailed suicide notes sent to several friends reportedly because of a broken romance, this past weekend.  Shortly thereafter a woman friend and his bodyguard took him to the hospital Sunday,  where  he allegedly caused a major scene threatening to harm himself.
