Not apparently deterred by her last venture on TV, that seemed to pretty much destroy her marriage, Jessica Simpson is returning to Reality TV. Jessica will host the docu-series, The Price of Beauty, which will follow the singer, as she travels around the globe in search of what people find beautiful. The show will be telecast on VH1. Jessica, she said in a statement Monday:“I have always believed that beauty comes from within and confidence will always make a woman beautiful, but I know how much pressure some women put on themselves to look perfect.”
“I am really looking forward to discovering how beauty is perceived in different cultures and participating in some of the crazy things people do to feel beautiful,” she continued. “I know we will all learn a lot on this journey and I am so excited that VH1 is coming along on what I’m sure will be a wild ride.”
I kind of find Jessica spouting quotes about “beauty comes from within and confidence will always make a woman beautiful” a bit hypocritical given the things she has done “to be a star,” but whatever. The concept of the show sounds interesting.
Looks like Jessica Simpson’s country career is over as her label dropped her. As of right now, the alleged country singer’s name appears nowhere among the artists listed on the sites of either Columbia Nashville or Sony Music Nashville. Although Simpson’s country debut, Do You Know, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard country charts, it fizzled thereafter and only sold 172,876 copies as of February.
Simpson’s live performances were also a disappointment. She struggled as the opening act for Rascal Flatts this year, often flubbing lines or forgetting lyrics altogether. Simpson also skipped Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards, even though she announced the nominees earlier this year.
After rumors began today that she was dropped, her rep trying to do some damage control confirmed she is no longer with Sony Nashville label, telling Us, “She was on loan to Sony Nashville for her country album,” and is back with Epic artist where she has released pop albums.
The on loan story excuse goes into the hall of fame of weak excuses offered by a rep .

Despite playing Cupid by introducing the pair, and initially being a big fan of the pairing, Jessica’s Manager and Dad, Joe, has decided the 28-year old jock is now a bad influence on his daughter’s career - and his own selfish plans - according to our friends at The Enquirer. “Joe now feels that Tony has become too much of a distraction,” explains an insider, “Any free time she has, Jess wants to spend with Tony.”
It’s believed Papa Joe only made the connection so he could use the publicity to further his plans for his Daughter to grow a country music career. But it’s all blown up in his face. The career is a dud, and Tony and Jess seem truly in love. And that’s not making him rich. “He wants Tony out of her life, but Jessica loves him and won’t even consider leaving him at this point.” says the well-informed source.

Jessica Simpson has had some bad concert nights before but this one seems a bit noteworthy. In a bizarre 38-minute set as an opening act for headliner Rascal Flatts in a show at the Van Andel Arena in Michigan, Simpson stole the spotlight in a bad way. The Grand Rapids Press said Simpson forgot her lyrics (yeah she’s done that before), struggled with her ear monitors, mumbled through songs and fought back tears during Thursday night’s performance (video below).
At one point, the 28-year-old singer-actress asked her backing band to start over on one song, and she forgot the words to another.
In an understatement Cindi Berger, a representative for Simpson, said Friday:
“Jessica had an off night. She’s a perfectionist, and wanted to start some of the songs over. She always wants to give her best performance to her fans.”
Simpson apologized to the supportive audience of about 9,000 by mouthing the word “sorry” on two large video screens.
While introducing her last song, Simpson said she sometimes feels like quitting. She appeared to be wiping away tears after finishing the song and walking off the stage.
Jessica has been under intense scrutiny in recent weeks after a series of semi-unflattering photos of her sporting high-wasted “mom jeans” as she’s apparently put on a few extra pounds, which made the rounds on the gossip magazine and blog circuit.
Friends and family quickly rushed to her defense. Is it the fallout of the weight issues that caused the near meltdown on stage or is she just really unhappy right now hence the added weight and such? Hopefully this “off night” crap and the show must go on stuff doesn’t get in the way of Jessica taking a break and dealing with some things if she needs to.

Star is reporting that earlier this month, on the very night Simpleson flew out of Los Angeles, Romo had himself a night out on the town, afterward inviting everyone over to Jess’s house for an afterparty. And one lady even received the VIP treatment from Romo.
Amid Jessica’s gold albums, the party raged on downstairs. But on the second floor, Tony was enjoying his own private party — with a long haired, olive-skinned cutie.
“Everyone was talking about it downstairs,” dishes the source. “The girls were saying it was so wrong and shady of Tony to cheat on Jessica — especially in her place! I just can’t believe he would hook up with another woman at his own girlfriend’s house.”
Not that I believe every story Star Magazine tells but I do wonder about Tony’s wandering ways.
