So some of you have noticed that there’s a new editor in town. Elliot asked me to introduce myself, and what better time than at the start of a new week?

I’m Ellen, I’m a freelance raconteuse, and I live in New York City. I grew up in the mighty Midwest and retain, somewhere, the idea that maybe everyone has some good inside. (I know, exactly what a celebrity commentator doesn’t need!) I speak fluent Spanish and lived in Madrid for a while, hence the Penelope Cruz post. My current pop culture obsessions include “The Office,” OK Go and whatever Paris Hilton does to make herself relevant. In past Web incarnations I liveblogged the Grammy Awards and declared my intention to get over Jake Gyllenhaal — not that it’s working, mind you.
