No, the Academy does not actually make its nominees wrestle for awards… but they are obligated to sit down for a nice lunch together before the big show.
Such a big weekend for Abigail Breslin, the Academy’s third youngest nominee ever (best supporting actress, “Little Miss Sunshine”). Are those cowboy boots?
With all the buzz about Jennifer Hudson being The Woman To Beat (best supporting actress, “Dreamgirls”), it’s amazing that she looks so calm and polished. What’s your secret? Yoga? Raw foods? A voodoo doll?
Penelope Cruz (best actress, “Volver”) can do no wrong.
Cutest couple? Will Smith (best actor, “The Pursuit of Happyness”) and wife Jada. His suit looks great but still formal, and I love her ’50s-style dress.

You say what you want about Cate Blanchett’s acting abilities, but girl knows what looks good on her. She looks all glowy and regal.
One of my favorite parts of the night was when the camera cut to Kate Winslet during Helen Mirren’s acceptance speech, and she was crying and clapping for Mirren. Class act!
Obviously this look would not work for most people out on the red carpet, but Abigail Breslin looks just right — cute but not precious, dressed up but not trendy.

Here’s the cast of “Grey’s Anatomy” which picked up best ensemble for a drama. But who is minding the shop back at Seattle Grace?!
And here’s two-thirds of the cast of “Little Miss Sunshine” (on-screen mother and son Toni Collette and Paul Dano are missing). Abigail Breslin must be having just about the best night ever, especially now that her onscreen dad Greg Kinnear has agreed to let her lop off his toes with the statue.
