‘24′ prequel Two-hour TV movie to air in fall

Posted on March 6th, 2008 by Hot Momma

The producers of hit Fox TV drama “24″ are reportedly planning a two-hour TV movie ‘prequel’ to tide viewers over until the new season airs in the new year.

the Emmy-winning series, starring Kiefer Sutherland as maverick counterterrorism officer Jack Bauer, was among the biggest casualties of the Hollywood writers’ strike, with the show’s seventh season being put back from January this year to 2009. It had to be doubly disappointing to Sutherland, who spent most of January in a Los Angeles Jail after pleading no contest to drink-driving charges, in order to be free for scheduled shooting of the show.

The first eight episodes of the real-time drama of season seven have already been filmed, but were not shown so the season could be broadcast in its entirety.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Fox wants to air a two-hour prequel movie to bridge the gap between the sixth and seventh seasons, targeted to air in the fall, leading to the January return of the real-time drama.
The TV movie is also intended to outline what has changed at CTU HQ during the two-year hiatus.

The next season of 24 could see life imitating art if Hillary Clinton wins the presidential election, with Cherry Jones starring as the US’ first female president.

New Season Of ‘24′ postponed January 2009

Posted on February 16th, 2008 by Hot Momma

Fox has announced that ‘24′ fans will have to wait ’til January 2009 to get more Jack Bauer.

Before the strike 8 new episodes were filmed but according to Fox, since the network has committed to air a full season on consecutive weeks, the new season will only start next year.

It’s not like they have to start from scratch, so why don’t they just show an abbreviated season or keep airing shows into the summer?

It’s got to be a disappointment to Kiefer Sutherland, who arranged his jail time over the holidays, to keep the scheduled shooting of the show on track.

Also in perhaps another blow to the show, Joel Surnow, the prominent Hollywood conservative and co-creator of “24,” has severed ties with the show.  Good luck getting things back on track, guys.

Posted on February 4th, 2008 by Hot Momma

As we reported this weekend here, a tentative agreement between striking writers and Hollywood moguls looks likely to be announced sometime this week. As the two sides apparently bridged the gap over the key issue of payment for projects distributed on the internet. With optimism in the air sources at ABC are saying that production of Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty and Brothers & Sisters will likely start to shoot four or five episodes in March with the intention to air in April/May.

First season shows that have already been awarded full-season pickups i.e. (Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money, Samantha Who?) will likely restart production over the summer ahead of a fall relaunch. CBS, NBC and Fox are likely to follow the same pattern, with established shows returning in the spring; newer ones held till fall. The plan for heavily serialized shows like Heroes, Lost, and 24 remains undetermined.

Kiefer Sutherland does domestic duty in Jail

Posted on December 20th, 2007 by Hot Momma

Far from his everyday life, Kiefer Sutherland is apparently receiving no special treatment as he serves a 48-day jail sentence for drunk-driving. He’s spending his long days cooking for inmates and washing dirty sheets.

Sutherland, who turns 41 on Friday (happy birthday), has been put to work in the laundry and kitchen, serving up food and cleaning the soiled sheets of homeless people, according to the National Enquirer.

Jail spokesman Sergeant Tom Lorenz says, “We pick up street people, who then sleep on bunks in our jail. Kiefer Sutherland has to wash their bedding.

“He needs to wear rubber gloves for the job, it’s not a pretty sight. Because it’s such a messy job, Sutherland is allowed to shower twice a day.

“Then he prepares and serves meals to the prisoners.”

Sutherland was handed the sentence for drunk-driving and violating probation in September. He is due for release in January. meaning he will spend his upcoming birthday, Christmas and New Year behind bars.

Keifer Sutherland takes a walk

Posted on October 15th, 2007 by Hot Momma

Keifer Sutherland in New York enjoying a walk outside. He is not allowed to drive until May 2008.

Keifer is required to turn himself in Dec 21 to begin his 48 days behind bars.  He opted to spend more time in jail for his second DUI conviction in order to protect the production of his show, which is quite admirable and mature.  However I am not out to proclaim him some kind of a hero.  He needs to get it together with the drinking.  There is no excuse for a person of his stature driving under the influence, period.
