[HMG] – After nine relentless, teeth-grinding weeks, MTV’s latest hype-driven insult, Jersey Shore has vacated our screens. But rather than allow even a brief period of silence the ‘network’ is now leaking stories that the Jersey Shore cast are demanding more money to offend us again.

MTV’s first offer for the show’s second season was a $10,000 sign-on bonus, plus $5,000 each for twelve scheduled shows.

But the mindless mouth-breathers who have infested our collective perception like an unwelcome mold were [supposedly] holding out for $10,000 a show.

[In other news, the cast of MTV's other hype-fest, 'The Hills' get around $100,000 a week - So these dim-bulbs clearly don't have a clue.]

MTV promptly upped the bait to $10,000 a week. But so far, the Jersey Shore cast have not deigned to reply.

Which is entirely predictable – They get more press attention that way.

One thing you need to keep in mind — Even a standard TV contract would give MTV a solid hold on these half-wits for at least one more year. So the cast have no right to negotiate. Therefore this ‘story’ is more self-serving hype, spoon-fed to a collaborative media by the avaricious simpletons who run MTV.

TMZ says the network has now told the Jersey Shore cast the new $10k offer must be accepted by the end of today. Those who sign can stay on, the rebels can make other plans.

And they supposedly have replacements lined up if anyone can borrow the IQ to play hardball. Reports say Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino and Pauly D are currently the mostly likely to walk.

I say, let them all leave. MTV should not be bribing the Jersey Shore cast, they should be rewarding the audience. Anyone whose life has been blighted by the merest mention of this televisual train-wreck should receive vast compensation for enduring the unrelenting, cretinous, mind-rotting PR tricks MTV has used to promote it.

Of which this puerile drama is one…
