(HMG Celebrity News) – After Charlie Sheen fired from ‘Two And A Half Men’, time was running out for CBS. They scrambled to find a replacement for Charlie Sheen on ‘Two And A Half Men.’  With just a week before CBS presents its new 2011-12 program line-up to advertisers in New York, Hugh Grant, was “deep into negotiations” to replace Sheen on the hit CBS sitcom, with an offer of over $1 million an episode on the table.

Grant reportedly pulled out at the last minute yesterday due to “creative differences.” I thought that might be it, but the network obviously had a backup plan and quickly moved onto former “That 70′s Show” and “Punk’d” star Ashton Kutcher.

After Charlie Sheen fired from the show, nobody really thought that anyone would try to step into his enormous shoes. However, Ashton is putting the final touches on his contract, which will offer him a “huge payday,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. I can’t help feeling with how fast this deal came together and the almost can’t win situation he is stepping into that Ashton was probably more excited about the big payday than the role he is stepping into?

While Ashton seems to somewhat fit the profile of the actors CBS was rumored to be looking at, he is a bit younger than what the producers seemed to be looking for in the role. I am still stunned the show is going to go forward but I wonder now how they’re going to do it?  Will they just pretend like nothing happened with Ashton  taking over Charlie’s character, or will they spin the story in the sitcom in a different way?

Also, was Charlie Sheen fired from his show for a good cause and will he make a comeback in the future?
