After making it to Rolling Stone’s list of top rappers, Nicki Minaj recalls that her climb to the top has not been easy.  In an interview that will be published in the November issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, the 28-year-old musician reveals how she struggled to break into the music industry particularly the male-dominated genre of rap music.

Minaj remembers at some point in her life in which she had very low self-esteem and even thought about committing suicide.  Her quest for a decent career in music did not start out as she expected.  Doors were slammed on her face.  She felt like nothing was working out for her.  Minaj left her home to pursue her dream.  When she felt like giving up, she couldn’t bear the thought of going back home again.

After her thinking the worst, Minaj decided not to let the constant rejection affect her determination to succeed.  She did not get discouraged and it paid off in the end.  The top female rapper finally made some connections with the some of the greatest artists of the industry.  She created an army of followers on Twitter and was finally asked to perform as the opening act to Britney Spears’ recent concert tour.

She plans to win a couple of Grammys and an Oscar if she can.  News of Nicki Minaj and Drake dating are making the rounds on the web but they are not married.  We repeat, to everyone asking are Nicki Minaj and Drake married, the answer is a big, fat NO. Right now, she is just being Nicki Minaj.  Her story is inspiring to future young artists who plan to make it on their own.
