Ellen Degeneres Wife, Portia De Rossi, Sells Beverly Hills Home for $49M

Ellen Degeneres may not a real estate mogul like Donald Trump, but she sure has an eye for making a good investment.

Degeneres and wife, Portia de Rossi, have lived in seven houses throughout their 7-year relationship.  It seems that they have made a habit and an investment to change houses every year.  Their recent house is currently in the market for $48 million.  That may seem a lot of cash but it’s definitely worth it.  The multimillion house is located in Beverly Hills with a land area of 2.87 acres.

A main house occupies 9,200 square foot of the massive compound which includes 2 swimming pools, 3 guest houses, koi ponds and different varieties of pear and oak trees.  The wedding ceremony of Portia and Ellen took place in the backyard last 2008.

Degeneres bought the Beverly Hills estate from her good friend, Max Mutchnick, a few years ago for $29 million.  She also bought the surrounding properties to ensure their privacy while residing there.  The market value of the estate has increased dramatically ever since.  Degeneres’ estate will be featured on the cover of Architectural Digest this November.

Aside from the Beverly Hills home, the couple is also selling another property just outside Los Angeles.  The 26 acre ranch is worth $16.5 million equipped with horse stables, residential cottages, barns and tree houses.

In an interview, Ellen relates a story about her father and how they would dream of buying houses of their own.  Ellen grew up in a rented house.  Thanks to her success as a talk show host, she is living the dream she and her father once had.
