Under-Pressure Rapper Soulja Boy Now Trying to Make Amends
Soulja Boy’s representative Debby Coda has told celebrity news website TMZ.com that her client’s anti-US Army song “Let’s Be Real” will not be a part of his forthcoming studio album “Respect My Hustle.”
According to Coda, both Soulja’s management team as well as the officials of his record company are trying their best to take the controversy-stirring off the internet, although it is unclear how successful they will be in their attempts to save their client’s reputation.
Coda further revealed that the album was posted on YouTube without any expectations that it would result in such a massive furore. Her words seemed to liberate the record company of all the blame and suggested that the “Crank That” singer had made the songs out of his own will.
In order to make amends for what he has done, Soulja is now willing to willing to do free shows for the Army and is also thinking about meeting the troops personally to apologise. It should be noted that at one point during “Let’s Be Real”, he said, “f–k all the army troops.”
Yesterday, the 21-year old rapper issued a lengthy written apology on GlobalGrind.com, in which he said, “When I expressed my frustration with the US Army, not only did my words come out wrong, I was wrong to even speak them. So, I write this to give my sincerest apology to all members of the United States military services, as well as their families that were offended by my most recent lyrics.”
He then added, “As a young man who grew up in the post-9/11 era, I have watched our country fight two wars that seem like they are never going to end. I have seen thousands and thousands of our brave men and women get killed in battle and often times, I think for what? A lot of people in this country are struggling to make ends meet and I think a lot about what if we had never gone to war.”
