Britney Spears Speaks about Lady Gaga’s VMAs Alter Ego Jo Calderone

With all the glitter and glamour on display at MTV’s Video Music Awards 2011, people were expecting that some big winner or some mega performer would dominate the headlines. But it didn’t turn out that way at the VMAs this year. Instead, the personality that was the talk of the hour was a character or as they call it these days an ‘alter ego.’

The artist in question is Lady Gaga, who chose to come out at the VMAs wearing the attire of ‘Jo Calderone’- Mother Monster’s freshly baked on-screen persona a la Beyonce’s ‘Sasha Fierce’ and Nicki Minaj’s ‘Roman Zolanski.’ For such a major star to remain in her alter-ego for the entirety of the night, surprised many, including Britney Spears.

Spears, who won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, was asked to tell what she thought of drag king Jo Calderone. Speaking in an interview with MTV, she said, “It was interesting, her character.”

It was Gaga who was asked to present Brit with the award and when both were on the stage at the same time, things started to heat up between the sexy “Oops I Did It Again” star and Mr. Calderone. Britney recalled, “We got onstage and we felt it out.”

They were clearly heading towards a lip-lock before Spears pulled away from the action. She then told the crowd: “I don’t want Gaga to get pissed.”

It should be noted that Britney has a history of homosexual kisses at the VMAs. She famously kissed Madonna during a performance in the 2003 VMAs event.

Brit also revealed that Gaga remained in her persona at the backstage as well and never dropped her guard. “She’s in full character. Yes, definitely”
