Television Actor Michael Showers’ Body Found Floating in Mississippi River
Actor Michael Showers, who played the character of Captain John Guidry on tv drama series “Treme,” was found dead in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Mississippi River.
Times-Picayune-a local New Orleans’ tabloid was the first to break the news of 45-year old actor. His lifeless body was found floating near the French Quarter by the captain of a steamboat. The authorities were instantly notified and half an hour later, the corpse was taken out of the water and identified as Showers.
According to John Gagliano, who is the chief investigator for the Orleans Parish coroner’s office, Showers’ corpse had been in water for around 48 hours. Showers, used to reside in the area near French Quarter from where the body was recovered. A post-mortem will take place to identify what killed the television actor.
Apart from his appearance on the Emmy-nominated HBO drama “Treme,” he also played small roles on Breaking Bad” and “The Vampire Diaries.”
Movie fans would know him from his cameos in “Traffic,” Jim Carrey-starrer “I Love You Philip Morris” and “The Tree of Life.”
“The Wire” star Wendell Pierce, who knew Showers from their time together on “Treme,” posted an RIP message on Twitter in his memory.
“Rest In Peace to my costar Micheal Showers. He will be a lasting part of our New Orleans story and television history,” Pierce tweeted.
