U2 Frontman Bono Quashes Heart Condition Rumors
Bono, the lead singer of British band U2 has denied reports that he has been diagnosed with a heart condition. The Irish Independent newspaper sent shockwaves through millions of U2 fans by claiming that Bono had experienced chest pains after the recent conclusion of his 30-country world tour.
The tabloid further claimed that Bono was rushed to a medical facility in Monaco and was subsequently advised by the doctors to take some time off from touring.
But a representative of the 51-year old rocker has relieved the worried U2 fans by telling Reuters that the heart scare rumors are completely baseless. According to the rep, Bono is in top physical condition and while he did visit a hospital in Southern France, it was only for a routine medical checkup.
The representative said, “Despite press stories to the contrary, Bono has not suffered a recent health scare. Reports of his being rushed to hospital for emergency treatment are untrue. Bono is in good health and enjoying a family holiday in the south of France.”
U2 is among those musical bands that tour extensively around the world each year and this hectic schedule sometimes takes its toll on the musicians’ bodies. Bono has a history of injury problems and he has undergone at least two major surgeries during his musical career.
In one of U2’s 1990s concerts, Bono fell down off the walkaway and had to go under the knife on emergency basis. He also suffered a back injury in 2010, which required more surgery and it sidelined the band’s touring plans for a couple of months.
