Adam Levine slams “American Idol” for being anti-gay
Maroon 5 frontman and The Voice star judge Adam Levine let it all lose in a recent interview.
While his wildly popular reality singing show The Voice is his baby, he admits that American Idol is an “institution” and hard to compete with. “I can’t fuck with American Idol,” Levine told Out Magazine. “It’s a cultural institution. On The Voice, we just care about a different list of things. It’s for a different type of person, I guess.”
How does Levine think his show The Voice is going to better? He believes they are more open and accepting to American culture and what the world is coming to be. He not so politely ripped the Fox show for being gay ignorant. “What’s always pissed me off about Idol is wanting to mask that, for that to go unspoken. C’mon. You can’t be publicly gay? At this point? On a singing competition? Give me a break. You can’t hide basic components of these people’s lives. The fact that The Voice didn’t have any qualms about being completely open about it is a great thing.”
What do you think? Is American Idol put the ka-bash on gay contestant’s sexuality. Was Adam Lambert too muted? Read the interview at Out Magazine, or watch the photo shoot below.
