Melanie Moore, who had long been tipped to win it all on “So You Think You Can Dance,” had no problems going through the formalities, as she secured the title yesterday (August 11).

Fans voted heavily in the 19-year old dancer’s favor, which netted her the prestigious title along with $250,000 in cash. Runner-up Sasha Mallory and second runner-up Marko Germar battled hard to stay in competition with Moore but such was the quality of her performances that 47% of the voted were casted in her favor.

As soon as her name was announced, she broke down in tears and could manage only a simple “Thank you” to the fans, who made her the champion.

Moore dominated the eight season of Fox’s reality dancing program from the very beginning and vowed the fans and judges both. The pixie-haired dancer presented her contemporary routines with such elegance and style that she never found herself in trouble of elimination.

During the first part of the finals, she was paired with eventual third-place finisher Germar and both performed admirable as a team.

In the second half, she was teamed with several past winners and participants of the competition and she held her own each and every time.

A day before the season finale, director Kenny Ortega told Moore, “I would push myself to the front of the line to work with you.”
