Metal Band Warrant’s Ex-Frontman Jani Lane Found Dead in a Motel
Jani Lane, who is best known for his time as the lead singer of glam metal band Warrant, has been found dead at the age of 47.
His lifeless body was found in Woodland Hills’ Comfort inn motel, which is in close proximity of Los Angeles. So far, the authorities haven’t said what lead to Lane’s untimely death.
The Akron-born singer was the lead singer of the band until 2004, after which, he was seen on the on the US reality show Celebrity Fit Club. In 2008, he rejoined Warrant but his second stint with the band was a short one, as he leaved once again after just a few months.
Lane’s “Cherry Pie” was arguably his most successful song with Warrant and it drew a lot of attention for the band, thanks in part to its saucy visuals as well.
Since going his separate ways, Lane has been in trouble with the law several times. He was twice arrested for DUI, which led to him spending some time behind the bars too.
Tributes started to pour in, soon after the news of his death was made public. Brett Michaels tweeted, “We’d like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Jani Lane regarding their loss. Respectfully, Bret and all at MEGI.”
Pro wrestler Chris Jericho, who is also known for his love for rock music, also chimed in. His tweet read, “Sad to hear about the passing of Jani Lane. Jani was a good guy and one of the best songwriters in the late 80s Dog Eat Dog-very underrated.”
