Amy Winehouse home robbed, family in shock
In a sickening story that should reduce most true fans to tears it’s been reported that the London home of Amy Winehouse has been robbed and several precious mementos may now be gone forever.
The exact date of the theft is unclear at this point, but among the items removed were personal letters, handwritten lyrics for her upcoming album, demo recordings and even a favorite guitar. And Amy’s family are predictably crushed by the heartless act; Especially her father, Mitch.
“This is such a sickening shock to the family, that someone would stoop so low,” a friend tells reporters. ”They can’t get their heads around it. Mitch is livid, but he’s willing to give whoever stole the items a chance to do the right thing and put them back so it doesn’t have to get messy.”
Police have launched an investigation into the theft at Amy’s $2-million home in the London suburb of Camden, but so far no clues have appeared.
“Mitch is crushed,” says the friend. “The family are months away from deciding what to do with any unreleased music. For that to be taken out of their hands is horrible.”
Roughly twenty people, mostly friends and police have had access to the home since Amy died on July 23, but Mitch believes an ex-boyfriend is the most likely culprit and he’s vowed to solve the theft as soon as the family return from vacation.
Meanwhile, Amy’s last boyfriend, Reg Traviss – who is with them on the trip – now has the regrettable task of working out what was taken.
