In a move normally unexpected from someone with his relaxed sense of style, American Idol judge and Aerosmith front-man Steven Tyler is releasing a ‘rocker inspired’ clothing range.

The 63-year old singer has formed a collaboration with Andy Hilfiger, brother of fashion icon Tommy to create a new fashion line called Andrew Charles.

“I grew up on Aerosmith and Steven Tyler,” Andy explains “In his own wardrobe, Tyler mixes leather, leopard and scarves, and is known for his animal prints and accessories. I’ve always loved his music and style.”

The odd couple met at the ‘Rock Style’ exhibition in 1999, but it was only after seeing Steven on Idol that Andy saw the true potential for a new range, which is now set to be featured on upcoming shows.

Reportedly heavy on denim, designs for the mens range are based on Steven’s own unique style, while the women’s clothing is said to have been influenced by the tastes of Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks.

The new line will also include “wovens, knits, and outerwear,” with plans to expand into “handbags, footwear, jewelry and fragrances,” in case his fans care to share Steven’s scent. There will also be scarves.

Tyler and his 22-year-old daughter Chelsea will also promote the new line in a nationwide ad campaign. It will then be released in Macy’s department stores early next month.
