OutKast Rapper Big Boi Facing Drug Possession Charges
On Saturday (August 6), Big Boi, who is best known for being part of the famous rap-duo “OutKast,” was arrested by law enforcement agencies in Miami and he now faces illegal drug possession charges.
The rapper born Antwan André Patton, was returning to the US after some holidaying in the Caribbean. As soon as he got out of the cruise ship, police dogs detected drug smell coming from him.
He will now be facing three counts of possessing illegal drugs including ecstasy pills, MDMA and Viagra, in addition to a single count of possession of drug accessories. His bail was fixed at $16,000, which he posted with ease and then rejoiced his quick release by posting a message on micro-blogging website Twitter. “Fresh out, baby!” he tweeted.
The 36-year old star’s legal representatives sound confident that their client would be cleared of all the charges. Soon after Big Boi was locked up, they issued a statement regarding the matter. The statement read, “While Big Boi was travelling with his group and friends, a small amount of contraband was found in the collective luggage. I am confident when the entire facts are aired Big Boi will be completely exonerated.”
Big Boi has reportedly been working on the sequel of his 2010’s critically acclaimed solo album “Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty.” He took the time-out to go on holidays in the Caribbean so that he could concentrate on the songwriting and in one of his pre-arrest tweets he had admitted, “The energy from the ocean is proving to be great for writing.”
