Oscar-Winner Marion Cotillard’s American Stalker Arrested
Law enforcement agencies have arrested a fan who threatened to kill Academy Award-winning actress Marion Cotillard. The stalker named Teresa “Teri” Yuan, daily sent more than a hundred threatening messages and video clips to the French actress, in which she implicitly threatened to hurt Cotillard.
The messages were directed towards the actress through both her private mail and her dedicated fan site. After the messages kept on piling up, the website’s administrator reported the stalker’s behavior to the FBI. Cotillard and her family were well aware of the situation and they got worried for their safety after Yuan stated in an email that she knows the “Public Enemies” star’s travel route and plans to meet her someday.
In one of the videos sent to Cotillard on July 23, Yuan said, “The guilt and sorrow I feel now, I won’t feel after it happens. After it happens, I’ll feel no regrets whatsoever… that’s apparently how it feels to be a killer, to be a murderer.”
Another one of her messages read, “Would you be willing to play Russian Roulette? If you weren’t willing and you had no choice, I’d say ‘yeah, that’s pretty unfair.’ But would you still like it that at least there’s only one bullet in this pistol?”
Cotillard’s offender was apprehended by local police in New York on Thursday and she now faces charges of “interstated safety.” However she posted a $50,000 a day later and was released from police custody. According to Reuters, the federal agencies have 30 days to force a grand jury indictment on Yuan.
