Parents Council: Nicki Minaj’s Accidental Nip Slip Could Have Been Prevented

A parenting group has said that viewers of Good Morning America should not have been exposed to the accidental nip slip suffered by rapper Nicki Minaj on Friday (August 5).

Minaj was performing at the morning show’s Summer Concert Series when the dress malfunction happened. Since then, video clips of the revealing scene are in circulation on the internet and although YouTube management keeps on deleting them, such is its demand that new ones keep on being uploaded by the users.

But the Parent Television Council says that the controversial episode could have been avoided, if the show had used a five-second delay in anticipation of live mishaps.

Speaking to celebrity blog TMZ, PTC president Tim Winter said, “For the umpteenth time in recent memory a morning news show has included inappropriate content for children and families. Instead of asking for forgiveness, they need to stop apologizing and implement the five second delay that so many Americans have been calling for.”

The incident was similar to the one that occurred in 2004’s Super Bowl half-time show when Janet Jackson suffered an accidental nip slip. An on-stage act between Jackson and Justin Timberlake went wrong, which left the former’s right breast hanging out for everyone to see.

The indecent exposure was witnessed by millions at home and what ensued was a massive furor by viewers against show’s broadcaster CBS. It remains to be seen whether the same level of complains will be made against the Nicki Minaj incident.
