Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole Not on Speaking Terms Anymore
Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole developed a very healthy working relationship from their time together on the jury panel of original X Factor. So when the American version of the same show was launched, Cheryl followed Simon to the US. But her stint on X Factor US didn’t last long as Simon decided to wield the axe and as expected, thing between them haven’t been the same ever since.
Reports of rifts between the former friends have been rife and now Simon has come forward to confirm that he hasn’t spoken to Cheryl since he decided that she wasn’t right for the US.
In a recent interview with Life & Style Weekly, the famous reality series judge said, “No (I haven’t spoken with Cheryl); we have texted. I am sorry the way it worked out as we were incredibly close. Trying to get her to understand what I did, it was never meant to be negative. It was a decision I thought was the right one, and I think she is more comfortable in England than I saw her here.”
The 51-year old Englishman also admitted that he may not have been entirely right in swapping Cheryl with Nicole Scherzinger. He said, “Maybe I didn’t give her enough time, and you have to be in the moment.”
Cowell then offered the former Girls Aloud-crooner the same judging position on X Factor’s UK version, but she was too pissed off by then.
“I offered her the show, and initially she accepted it. Then it went public that she didn’t and had the chance to still come back, but for whatever reason I couldn’t get her (on the phone). Unless I spoke to her, there was no way I would have her back,” he explained.
Back then, a source close to the 28-year old singer had revealed, “Cheryl trusted him (Simon) implicitly and she doesn’t do that with many people. He made a mockery of their friendship so now it’s dead in the water.”
But Simon is confident in his abilities to win Cheryl’s friendship back. He said, “She is still grumpy with me. I can look myself in the mirror and say I wasn’t being mean. I offered her a lot of money to go back as a hero, and it didn’t work out. I think when you have the history we have, you’ll eventually work it out.”
