Denise Richards dishes on being in love with Charlie Sheen (VIDEO)

It’s been six years since their split but the relationship between Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen has stayed in the headlines ever since. Things took an even nastier turn when Sheen got kicked off his hit series Two and a Half Men as the two began another round of public spats.

But things appeared to be on the back burner as Richards sat down with CNN’s Piers Morgan to talk about the emotionally evasive Charlie Sheen. She explained why she even got with the mad man in the first place. ”When we fell in love, he was sober for 3 years. He was just getting his life back together. He had just gotten his life back together,” said Richards.

She added, “I really admired his strength and courage for overcoming his addiction and being so humble about it. And that’s what attracted me to him. So the person that you have seen in the past 6 months is not the person I married.”

Morgan attempted to corner Richards by pointing out his wild past previous to their relationship and why she didn’t just recognize the warning signs. “You sort of look at him in aghast and think, I really hope this doesn’t end in a horrible way.”

Richards calmly replied saying she was trying to give him a second chance, “I knew what his past was like. I don’t pass judgement. At least for the most part, I’d like to think of myself as I’m not a judgemental person. I wasn’t judging him for his past. The person who I met was the person that I met at that moment.”

As for what her relationship is with Charlie Sheen now? “I do (talk to Charlie). Today, we’re good. Today’s a good day.”

“I want him to be a very healthy person. I want him to be healthy for his kids and for himself,” she said.
