Lead Singer’s Health Issues Force “Kings of Leon” to Abandon American Tour
Yesterday (August 1), rock band ‘Kings of Leon’ announced that they are cancelling the rest of their US-wide tour as a result of lead singer Caleb Followill’s health issues. A few days ago in a concert in Dallas, the band’s frontman walked off the stage in the middle of the show after being unable to cope with the hot weather.
But they are still scheduled to continue with the Canadian leg of their North American tour. Instead of starting it on September 14 as originally scheduled, Kings will now be resuming their singing duties on September 28 in Vancouver.
The Grammy winners released a statement through one of their representatives. It read that Caleb is “suffering from vocal issues and exhaustion. The band is devastated, but in order to give their fans the shows they deserve, they need to take this break.”
Last week in Dallas, Caleb shared his problems with the fans and said that he needed a short break to go backstage and get refreshed. But he didn’t return back on stage and the rest of the band members had to announce the show’s premature ending in front of an unimpressed crowd. This was followed by a complete cancellation of their show in Houston on Saturday.
While no details regarding Caleb’s health have been released yet, his brother Jared Followill did post a few messages on Twitter that shed some light on the group’s internal troubles. Yesterday he tweeted, “There are internal sicknesses and problems that have needed to be addressed … I can’t lie,” before adding, “There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.”
