American Idol’s Fantasia Barrino unveils pregnancy [video]

Fantasia Barrino is one of the most popular singers ever to win ‘American Idol’ and she now has another reason to be happy – She’s pregnant.

The 27-year old North Carolina native did a concert in Jacksonville, Florida over the weekend and told the fans the good news;

“You’re the first persons I share this news with,” she said, beaming. “And I share this with you because I can relate to you. This child I’m carrying; God has given me this child. And I don’t have to hide it from none of y’all.”

She made no mention of who the father might be.

The Season 3 winner already has a 9-year-old daughter, Zion from a past relationship and seemed happy to now have a pair.

But it nearly didn’t happen – She was hospitalized last August for a drug overdose after being accused of trying to break up the marriage between her boyfriend Antwaun Cook and his wife, Paula.

“I didn’t have any fight in me. I didn’t care about anything. I just wanted out,” she told reporters at the time.

It was later revealed she was pregnant by Cook at the time, but that ended in an abortion.

And there have been rumors of a pregnancy before – In February Fantasia had to squash stories she was expecting when she suddenly gained a great deal of weight. But her reps told fans she’d won a role in a movie as the famed gospel singer Mahalia Jackson and was told to gain 30-45lbs to look right for the part.

“Fantasia is 100% not pregnant,” her manager Brian Dickens told the press at the time. “The only thing she’s pregnant with is prosperity.

But this time it’s true, and here’s the lady herself to share the glad news with y’all….
