The Matrix star, Carrie-Anne Moss joins ‘Chuck’ swansong
In a display of creative imagination rarely seen in today’s TV fare the suits at NBC have decided to endow ‘Chuck’s final season with some true talent; Mark Hamil from Star Wars and Carrie-Anne Moss from ‘The Matrix’ are coming aboard.
Mark, 59, is due to appear as a villain, while Carrie-Anne, 43, will become Gertrude Verbanski – Chuck’s newest rival and John Casey’s worst fears realized.
The press release for this swan-song season defines Gertrude as “a former spy who now runs Verbanski Corp, a rival of Chuck’s new spy company. She’s ruthless and deadly, yet she also has a weak spot for John Casey — her old rival.”
The producers dropped several hints at Comic-Con about Adam Baldwin’s character finding love and their internal memos even define Gertrude as “Miranda Priestly meets Lara Croft, with a rather wicked sense of humor.” Carrie-Anne now has to work out how to play that, but Adam seems to like the prospect;
“Casey’s either met his match, or his love match,” he told fans at the conference.
Also joining the wake will be Craig Kilborn as another villain set to make Chuck’s life more unpleasant.
The Matrix trilogy raked in $300-million and four Oscars. Since it closed in 2003 Canadian-born Carrie-Anne has worked as a voice actor on video-games. She also starred in the Lifetime pilot ‘Normal,’ but that was dropped as a series last month so she was free to do this.
