Fan killed, three injured at George Clinton concert
At least one fan was killed and three others were injured during a George Clinton concert in Cleveland, Ohio last night. Police say four people suffered gunshot wounds but the cause and the name of the shooter are still unknown.
George, 70, was the headlining act at a free, all-day concert called ‘Unity in the Park,’ and was on stage with his band ‘Parliament Funkadelic’ just before 10pm when the trouble started.
“It was a large fight,” Police Sergeant Sammy Morris told reporters. “Somebody in the crowd produced a handgun and fired several times.”
A 16-year old boy was shot in the head, a 20-year old woman suffered gunshot wounds to the neck and two other fans aged 14 and 23 suffered leg wounds. All four were rushed to Cleveland’s MetroHealth Medical Center. The ensuing chaos also started a fight.
Police have just announced the 16-year old has since died of his wounds.
The hunt for the shooter is now in full swing but no arrests have been made. We’ll update you when that changes, as it certainly will.
