In observance of her faith Amy Winehouse was cremated today in Golders Green, London, at a small, private service attended by just family and friends.

The coroner’s office completed an autopsy over the weekend but the cause of her death will not be known until test results arrive in 4-6 weeks so the service proceeded as planned. But Police have dismissed foul play as a cause of her death.

Before attending the funeral Amy’s parents, Mitch and Janis visited the home in Camden, north London where Amy was found, lifeless and still by her security guard on Saturday. Fans have transformed the street into a shrine, with countless cards, candles, flowers and teddy bears.

“Amy was about one thing and that was love,” Mitch told the fans. “Her whole life was devoted to her family and her friends, and to you guys as well. We’re devastated and I’m speechless, but thanks for coming.”

After a tormented 2-year marriage to Blake Fielder Civil that ended in 2009 Amy found love with a new guy – Reg Traviss. Today, Reg told reporters he was crushed by her loss;

“The last three days have been hell,” he says. “I can’t describe what I’m going through and I want to thank all the people who paid their respects. Amy was a beautiful, brilliant person. I have lost my darling who I loved very much.’

When he last saw her on Saturday morning Reg says Amy was happy and picking out clothes for a friend’s wedding on Sunday.

“Amy had laid out dresses to make up her mind. She was really looking forward to it,“ he recalled.

The inquest into Amy’s death was opened on Monday and adjourned until October 26. The cause of death is not clear but she was believed to be depressed and upset after she and Reg ended their romance. And she had still not beaten her addictions to vodka or drugs.

Amy’s mom, Janis is very emotional, as you’d expect, but she managed a brief word with reporters;

“Her passing so suddenly still hasn’t hit me,” she said, adding that ‘I love you, Mom’ was the last thing she heard Amy say. ”They’re the words I will always treasure. I’m glad I saw her when I did.”

Some reports have claimed Amy bought drugs the night before she died but the Police dismissed this as rumor – they say no drug paraphernalia was found at her $4.2-million home. How the death happened is still unexplained but Amy’s spokesman, Chris Goodman has a pretty clear timetable.

“Amy was alone at home, apart from a security guard,” he says. “She was in her bedroom after saying she wanted to sleep and when he went to wake her he found she wasn’t breathing. He called the emergency services but at this stage no-one knows how she died.”

He also said Amy could have been dead for up to six hours before being found, but that’s not confirmed.

You can see Amy in concert at MTV’s Times Square studios, tomorrow night at 6.30pm ET.
