While currently wowing the Comic Con fans with ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn,’ Robert Pattinson has a new movie in final production that may break their hearts. In ‘Bel Ami’ the soulful Edward plays an ambitious social climber who uses women to gain power.

In the trailer you see quite a bit of 25-year old Robert, but not as much as he claims you’re going to see in the film;

“I think there’s a lot of my crack in it,” he joked. “There’s quite a bit of nudity. It was such a strange story. I think it’ll turn out to be very interesting, but I have no idea about any of it yet.”

Based on a classic French novel first published in 1845 the story concerns Georges Duroy [Rob] who gets a job as a minor reporter on a small city newspaper and slowly climbs the ladder to become the Editor. Then a friend’s wife {Uma Thurman] uses her influence to get Georges into politics. Those two have an affair, then later marry, but Georges can’t leave the ladies alone – he has another affair. But so does his wife.

So they divorce and Georges marries his lover…and the circle of deception starts over again.

Joining Uma for this lustful tale are Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas, who you’ll see in the trailer, but some fans of the former vampire may get a shock – The movie’s press info says Georges is “a totally amoral character” and what you’ll get on the screen is a totally different persona than Edward. Even the hairdo is gone.

The subtext of illicit passion that runs through the story is even clear in the trailer – Rob and Uma get into a clinch and Rob still channels Edward by making a play for Christina’s neck. And the producers [who include the American Idol guys, 'IX Entertainment'] assure fans the full movie displays a lot more. Especially of Rob.

The finished film is supposed to open sometime in November but take a look at the preview and tell us what you think…
