Henry Cavill, who will play the role of Superman in the upcoming comic movie “Superman: The Man of Steel,” has expressed his disappointment at the decision to delay the movie’s release date by six months.

A few days ago, Warner Bros announced that it is pushing back the release date of “Superman: The Man of Steel” from December 2012 to June 2013. The move was taken to separate it from Sir Peter Jackson’s highly anticipated “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” which is scheduled to release on December 14, 2012.

In a recent interview with MTV at the San Diego Comic-Con, Cavill said, “They broke it to me gently. I was just told the other day.”

But in spite of not being particularly happy with the postponement, Cavill said it is something the actors have to bear as they have no control on such matters.

He continued, “It’s OK, it’s nothing to do with me. That’s stuff which I have no control over. I just focus on the character and do my job.”

Cavill is keen to begin filming and claims that he is ready to revive the legendary superhero on the big screen, where Superman’s fellow comic book characters like Spiderman and Batman have done impressive business.

“It’s exciting, humbling, and about time to get started,” he added.

Apart from Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, the movie will also feature Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Amy Adams and Michael Shannon.

The new release date for “Superman: The Man of Steel” is June 14, 2013.
