Among the Comic-Con crowd a few topics dominate the day’s conversation – Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit,’ the new Jurassic Park and the arrival of ‘Torchwood: Miracle Day.’ Starz has just released the trailer for their cult series and so far, fans seem to love it.

For those new to the series, Torchwood is about life in a world where no-one dies. The resulting population explosion could soon cause a breakdown in order and the C.I.A are ordered to find the cause and resolve it. Agent Matheson [Mekhi Phifer] investigates what’s soon regarded as a global conspiracy and gets drawn into a web of intrigue and adventure like nothing he’s ever encountered.

And it was clear from the meeting between fans and the cast that the love for the UK-import is shared by both sides:

“It’s so easy to slip into Cooper’s leathers, they are so warm and sexy,” Eve Myles told the room. “She’s a wonderful character I found difficult to let go. To come back to here is a dream.”

And having survived his fight with the BBC over the infamous gay sex scene, John Barrowman is equally fond of the show:

“I’m a nerd at heart and I’m proud of it,” he said. “I was very vocal about Torchwood in the UK and it was my opinion they’d be stupid not to bring it back. Thank goodness for Starz.”

And the list of guests in the ten-hour series is enough to keep any Sci-Fi specialist star-spotting for weeks – Wayne Knight (Jurassic Park), Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters), and Nana Visitor and John DeLancie (from ‘Star Trek: TNG’), plus Mare Winningham (Mildred Pierce) and Frances Fisher (The Lincoln Lawyer).

Originally created by Russell T. Davies, who worked on Dr. Who, the series has drawn legions of fans into its tale. The sheer scope of the story is a big reason why and producers are now promising more ‘flexibility with the timeline,’ more romance, new losses and big implications.

Watch the trailer and tell us what you think of it so far…
