Matt Damon Goes Bald For “Elysium”

Matt Damon is now officially hairless. The Bourne-series protagonist has gone for a brand new bald look for playing his ‘tough guy’ character in Neill Blomkamp’s science fiction movie “Elysium.”

A few days ago, he took a break from Elyisum’s filming and that’s when a photographer captured him showboating his new look on the streets of Vancouver, Canada.

“Elysium” is a sci-fi movie, which according to director Blomkamp, will use “many sociopolitical ideas, wrapped up inside something that is like a Hollywood action film”. The movie’s plot is set 150 years in the future and it will have the social allegory aspects similar to the ones in Blomkamp’s other creation “District 9.”

Apart from Damon, Elysium’s cast also includes Sharlto Copley, Jodie Foster and Alice Braga, while the main antagonist’s role will reportedly be played by Brazilian actor Wagner Moura. It is scheduled for a US-wide release on March 1, 2013.

Damon isn’t the only one to shave his head recent weeks. In the past few weeks, his fellow-Hollywood actors Jake Gyllenhaal, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Channing Tatum have also opted for the ‘Kojak’ head. Gyllenhaal has done it for his action movie “End of Watch,” while Tatum and Johnson for their G.I.Joe sequel.

Hollywood men are not the only one to shed some hair. Dakota Fanning and Vanessa Hudgens have also trimmed their admirable long hair to look suitable for their flicks “Now Is Good” and “Gimme Shelter” respectively.
