Warner Bros. has released the official pictures of Balin and Dwalin- the dwarf characters, who will be a part of the next Peter Jackson-directed movie “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.”

Time was the first to get their hands on the photos, in which white haired Balin and his younger and more fierce-looking brother Dwalin can be seen posing. The characters in the movie will be played by Ken Stott and Graham McTavish respectively.

The brothers will be a part of a dwarf group of dozen, who will go with Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) and Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) in their journey to Erabor.

Balin has been described as someone who has trouble believing non-dwarf creatures, while his younger sibling ‘is not someone to cross lightly.’

The pictures of the other ten dwarves have been released earlier by Warner Bros. The first picture featured three dwarves, who were identified as Nori (Jared Brophy), Ori (Adam Brown) and Dori (Mark Hadlow). The second photo had Oin (John Callen) and Gloin (Peter Hambleton) in it. The next one brought young’uns Fili (Deam O’ Gorman) and Kili (Aidan Turner) to our attention and it was followed by the fourth picture that shed light on the characters of Bofur (James Nesbitt), Bombur (Stephen Hunter) and Bifur (William Kircher).

“The Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey” is based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic novel “The Hobbit,” which revolves around Bilbo and Thorin’s quest to reclaim a stolen treasure. Their journey is made more colorful and adventurous by the pack of dwarves who accompany them to the lonely mountain.

The movie is a prequel to the “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy and is expected to be released later this year. It will be followed by a sequel titled “The Hobbit: There and Back Again” in 2013.
