Last night (July 15), fans flocked in great numbers to see Chris Brown perform on “Today” show’s Summer Concert Series. To catch a glimpse of Breezy for free, more than 18,000 fans showed up at the Rockefeller Plaza.

According to the Twitter page of “Today” show, “The crowd for @ChrisBrown concert is now the biggest @todayshow crowd ever!”

When Brown was made aware of his record-breaking lure, he also logged in on his official Twitter account and tweeted, “18 to 20 thousand people showed up at 7 this morning! That’s crazy!! Biggest crowd the today show ever had!I love my fans!!!!”

The F.A.M.E. crooner then thanked his followers by adding, “It is really truly an honor and a blessing to create music and evoke emotion for positivity. Can’t live without my fans.”

He then delighted his listeners by singing a bunch of songs, both from his new and old albums. The crowd sounded their approval too when their beloved R&B superstar tore into songs such as “Forever”, “I Can Transform Ya”, “She Ain’t You” and “Yeah 3X.”

Even though it was a free show, no one was expecting Brown to draw such a large number. Therefore, some extra blocks had to be shut down in order to make way for the concertgoers.

“We didn’t expect such a crowd. We just looked forward to Chris turning in a great performance,” Brown’s manager told Billboard.biz.

All in all, everything was perfect, unlike his appearance on “Good Morning America” earlier this year, when he got upset by the host’s constant probe into the “Rihanna” incident and followed it up with a low-key performance on stage.
