First Official Trailer of Sci-Fi Movie ‘John Carter ’Released (Video)

Walt Disney Pictures has released the first official trailer of the science fiction movie ‘John Carter,’ starring Taylor Klitsch in the lead role. The one minute 38 second-long snippet shows Klitsch playing the action-hero role of ‘John Carter,’ who is sent to a strange alien world, possible the planet Mars.

Once Mr. Hero gets there, the inhabitants of the planet choose Carter as their messiah and hence he gets assigned the task to lead them in their quest to fight off the evil powers.

The movie’s screenplay has been adopted from Edgar Rice Burroughs’s famous Barsoom novel series, which revolves around “John Carter”- a veteran of the American Civil War. He is forced to abandon his normal life and is transported to Barsoom (Mars), which is on the verge of destruction. He then joins the locals’ fight against their enemies and saves the planet from their evil clutches.

In the process of performing all his heroics, Carter befriends Tars Tarkas (played by Willem Dafoe), who also joins him in the ‘Save Barsoom’ cause. The movie also features Lynn Collins in the role of a humanoid Red Martian princess named Dejah Thoris. She also benefits from the existence of Mr. Carter in the movie, as he saves her from the aggressive four-armed Green Martians.

The Andrew Stanton-directed flick has Jim Morris, Colin Wilson and Susan Montford on the production panel. While Kitsch, Dafoe and Collins are joined by Samantha Morton, Dominic West, Polly Parker, James Purefoy and Mark Strong in front of the camera.

The movie is scheduled for a US-wide release on March 9, 2012.
