Katie Couric mulling Casey Anthony as first guest, sources say
Since her widely disputed acquittal on July 5 Casey Anthony has been deluged with offers for everything from books to a porn film, but if the rumors are true she’s about to get a real peach – to be Katie Couric’s first guest.
“We’re very interested in Casey Anthony,” an ABC source tells E. “Like everyone else, we were following her case very closely and we’d love to have that get.”
When it was suggested someone like Diane Sawyer could host the encounter and deftly hang Casey out to dry on national TV, the insider dissented;
“She could,” they replied. “But Diane isn’t that harsh. This would be ideal for Katie Couric as her first big get. Talk about making a first impression!”
Katie is set to open her new, and still unnamed talk show this fall, and while the ratings would no doubt be strong for such a discussion Katie’s cache as a respected TV host and reporter would almost certainly suffer. A lot.
But when asked if there were serious plans to make such a divisive interview truly occur an ABC exec was non-committal:
“We don’t comment on bookings,” is all the comment we have.
So, could ABC – which is owned and run by the Disney dudes – really have the absence of IQ and / or taste to book that guest for a highly-paid national discussion about the case and her alleged guilt? And should they?

People who are outraged by Casey Anthony making money on interviews with Katie or Diane Sawyer should boycott the tv stations, cable networks, newspapers and magazines and all their advertisers. We the public, if we watch, are the ones that will allow her to do so and allow her to profit for killing her little girl. It is so sick. Write to ABC and tell them you won’t watch and you will boycott their advertisers. Also, if Katie does open her show with this sicko her reputation will go down before she even gets started. I would hope she realizes it is too risky to associate herself with such a pathological liar and baby killer. I thought Katie had more class than that. Even porn and Jerry Springer didn’t want her. I pray that karma gets Casey Anthony. Lightening struck the tree by Caylee’s resting place hours after the verdict, Casey should watch the skies from the heavens above from now on. Nobody wants to see Casey Anthony being interviewed, it could be the end of Couric’s new show if she books this interview. I don’t want to see or hear anything from Casey Anthony, her family, her lawyers, the jurors or anyone who will be making a dime or have any media attention off the death of poor little Caylee. I would suggest to Ms. Katie Couric, that her career has gone downhill since she treated Sarah Palin so horrible on that interview. This will be the last straw for Katie and it will be the last straw for ABC or whatever network she goes to. Don’t know if you all know it yet, but there is a huge movement by millions of Americans, that will boycott whoever gives Casey or anyone connected with Casey a minute of tv time or money. ABC has already paid the Anthony’s close to $1/2M–$200K to slutmom & $200K to enabler Cindy. I try not to watch ABC unless urgent. Yeah, they want it.
