Nicole Richie, Jessica Simpson: Fashion Stars?

Eager to replace the ratings cash-cow that was ‘Project Runway’ NBC have now formed a new show “Fashion Star.“ And Nicole Richie and Jessica Simpson have been tapped as the hosts.

Nicole, famed for her ‘I got dressed in a wind-tunnel’ look, will offer style advice with the help of designer John Varvatos, while Jessica will advise on design. And the show will be hosted by Elle MacPherson, who, let’s be honest, should know better.

“Jessica, Nicole, John and Elle make the most exciting team we’ve ever worked with and we’re thrilled to feature such an extraordinary group of mentors and designers,” says the show’s Exec Producer, Ben Silverman.

And Nicole, who runs her own fashion ‘Winter Kate’ says the discordant debacle which comprises her usual ‘style’ is not even thought out.

“I don’t think it’s as prepared as you’d think,” she told UK fashion magazine ‘In Style.’ “I just grab whatever’s around and put it on.”

Nicole, 29, says she usually starts with jeans and a T-shirt and ‘I just go from there.’

“I collect a lot of vintage kimonos and bed jackets,” she shares. “I’ll throw those on and it will appear I’m wearing a completely different outfit, but I’m not.”

There’s no date for a debut but ‘Runway’ will be one tough act to beat: Nicole is no Coco Chanel and Elle has a long hill to climb to outshine Heidi Klum. But while NBC seem quite jazzed by the show’s prospects the important question is – Are you?
