Mariah Carey to be X-Factor judge, sources claim

Mariah Carey is now knee-deep in diapers, but the new momma could soon be returning to work – Simon Cowell reportedly wants her on X-Factor.

In April the 51-year old Brit said Mariah would have a small role on the show starting sometime in September. But reports now say she could soon become a full-time judge and mentor instead.

“Now she’s had her babies it’s very possible she will be involved in the later stages of the show,” says one show source. “She’s always said she wanted to work with the show, so it’s something they’ll be discussing ideas for soon.”

Simon has wanted Mariah on board for some time, but he told reporters the impending arrival of Monroe and Moroccan made it hard to get the deal done;

“She’s pregnant,” he explained. “I’d literally need to have auditions in a maternity unit or something…..Although, that’s not a bad idea.”

But the former American Idol guru still seems determined to get MC as a judge;

“She’ll be involved in some form,” he assured E. “I literally adore her. I love her to bits.”
