A longtime U2 fan, Adam Bevell had already been to more than twenty concerts, but the one in Nashville on Friday was special – he got to play with the band.

Adam, a keen guitarist from Mesa, Arizona who’s been blind since the age of 14, went to the concert at Nashville’s Vanderbilt Stadium and held up a sign; ‘Blind guitar player. Bring me up.’ But he never thought Bono would see it.

He did.

At the end of the concert Bono gave Adam a chance he says he’ll remember the rest of his life;

“Bono said ‘C’mon up here. Get this dude a guitar,’ and I thought no way man, there’s no way this is happening,” Bevell tells Fox.

The crowd helped Adam onto the stage and Bono led him to a guitar; “Dude’s gonna play some guitar,” he then told the crowd.

Adam played ‘All I Want is You,’ which was the song he and his wife chose for their wedding. And Bono joined in with some vocals.

“It was the greatest feeling knowing I was playing with the greatest rock star in the world,” says Bevell. But he didn’t make me feel like that, it felt like we were in our living room,”

And there’s more: When the song was over Adam went to hand back the guitar – but Bono refused, saying simply, “I want you to have my guitar.”

Adam was stunned; “It was an out-of-body experience. It was the greatest feeling,” he says.

Bono is known for being generous and open with fans and this is more proof. But can you imagine how many signs will be at the next gig? Watch the video and give us your take on this unselfish act…
