After weeks of being both lauded and hated by fans, former ‘Two and Half Men’ star Charlie Sheen is set to be roasted on national TV. And it will air the same night Ashton Kutcher takes his job.

The roast is booked for September 10th at the Friar’s Club in Los Angeles. The less colorful parts of this overdue take-down will then be aired on September 19 – the same night Ashton makes his debut on ‘Men’ as Charlie’s replacement.

“You could say I’ve been providing kindling for this roast for a while,” Sheen tells fans in a statement. “It’s going to be epic.”

It’s well known that Charlie’s no fan of Ashton taking over his job, and he’s been more than happy to share his view that the show’s doomed without him;

“Kutcher is a sweetheart and a brilliant comedic performer,” he wrote on a blog recently. ” Oh wait, so am I! Enjoy planet Chuck [Lorre], Ashton. There is no air, laughter, loyalty or love there.”

Sheen lost the job back in March after an ill-advised tirade against everything from Alcoholics Anonymous to ‘Men’s creator, Chuck Lorre. Ashton was named as his successor in May. But Sheen has since told friends he would have even apologized to regain his old job.

Today, Charlie and his former bosses are still squabbling over his $100-million lawsuit for unfair dismissal. An adjudicator has now been appointed to settle the spat, which means the sordid details will never be publicly known.

…And insiders say Charlie was counting on that risk of exposure to force Warners to settle.
