Never one to be shy of publicity Lady Gaga is now facing a lawsuit that could cause some less pleasant exposure. She’s accused of stealing money meant for Japanese earthquake victims.

A class-action lawsuit now alleges the 25-year old singer marketed her ‘We Pray For Japan’ wristbands to help the victims of the quake on March 11th recover, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars…and kept most of it.

Gaga charged fans $5 for a band, $3.99 for shipping and and $.60 to cover taxes. But the suit claims she inflated those prices and kept the surplus for herself. It also claims she never even told fans how much of the $5 would actually go to help the survivors.

“I’m suing Lady Gaga simply to hold her accountable for giving the money she was raising for charity to the cause she was trying to raise it for,” said Ari Kresch, an Attorney for the Michigan-based law firm who filed the suit.

They also point out the true shipping cost would be about $.50c, and sales tax is not charged on a charitable donation.

Gaga’s team has not responded to the filing at this point, but it’s expected they will be able to easily dismiss or disown it and it should soon be resolved without too much noise.

Did you buy a band? Do you believe what the lawsuit alleges? Let’s get your input on this…
