Johnny Depp joins Alice Cooper for surprise London gig [video]
With half the world’s media apparently focused on Beyonce at Glastonbury it’s possible you didn’t notice a small London gig between Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp. But the audience sure did.
The 63-year old iconic rocker was on stage at ‘The 100 Club’ on Oxford Street, performing tracks from his new album ‘Welcome 2 My Nightmare.’ During a lull in the noise he then introduced ‘the blues master, Mr Johnny D. from Kentucky’…and out walked Johnny Depp.
Draped in a satin waistcoat exposing two very toned arms Johnny, who’s in town filming Tim Burton’s ‘Dark Shadows’ then played guitar for two of Cooper’s classics – ‘I’m Eighteen’ and ‘School’s Out.’ And the crowd loved it.
Among that fortunate few was X-Factor contestant Katie Waissel, who seemed impressed:
“Oh my god, Johnny Depp just got on stage with Alice cooper! OMG! I love this! I’m speechless!” says her tweet.
But Alice gave fans [kind of] a heads-up before the show: “Chuck and Damon go over a few notes with tonight’s Special Guest,” he told them on his Facebook Wall. “Oh you’ll never guess. Don’t even bother.”
Once their set was over Alice even offered Johnny a job:
“I think we could use another guitar player,” he told the actor. “If this whole movie thing doesn’t work out, call us.”
And this not even Depp’s first time with a band – He’s played with Oasis and Shane McGowan of the Pogues, and you can also hear him playing on the soundtracks for ‘Chocolat’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in Mexico.’
Clearly a multi-talented guy. So who wishes they’d been in that crowd?…
