After two weeks of almost incessant teasing and ‘leaked’ memos, Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling finally unveiled and explained the Pottermore web site today.

Speaking at a press conference in London this morning the 45-year old author told reporters the site would be “a free web site that builds an exciting online experience around the reading of the Harry Potter books.”

The site is designed as an interactive experience where Potter addicts can play games within the realms of the best-selling stories. It officially launches in October but from July 31 fans will be able to join early.

Rowling says she hopes the new outlet will encourage younger fans to start reading her books.

“I wanted to pull it back to the reading, to the literary and story experience,” she explains. “I’ve had a lot to do with virtually every aspect of it.”

Ms. Rowling also revealed all seven Potter stories, which have already sold over 450-million copies in print, will be re-released as e-books in October.

“You can’t hold back progress,” she said. “Ebooks are here and here to stay. I feel great about taking Harry into this new medium.”

But fans hopes were dispelled when Rowling declared she is not writing, nor has plans to start an eighth novel.

“I do have closure with Harry,” the press were told. “I’m pretty sure I’m done on the novel front…But it was fun while it lasted.”

Ms. Rowling’s next brush with Harry is on July 15 when Deathly Hallows, Part 2 opens nationwide, which will add further layers to her personal net-worth already tagged by Forbes Magazine at $1-billion.
