American Idol judge, Randy Jackson eying chat show?
In a show of bravery only an American Idol judge could present, Randy Jackson is apparently planning to take Oprah on at her own game by launching a talk show.
Sources close to the story say the 54-year old Grammy winner is now touring Hollywood, pitching the idea for the show to both the networks and a few cable channels.
“He wants to talk about things that will be hip next,” one well-placed source tells THR. “He thinks he has his finger on the pulse.”
If the story pans out Randy’s certainly got a great wish-list of guests – He’s recorded with or produced songs for stars like Santana, Tracy Chapman, Celine Dion, Madonna, Elton John, Fergie and Whitney Houston, and his connections at two major record labels could bring enough talent to keep chatting for years.
But despite his impressive past – which also features eight years as the Vice Pres. of A&R for Columbia Records and four more for MCA – Randy apparently plans to talk to more than just other people in the music business.
Randy’s management are keeping silent on the story at present and his publicist didn’t return calls. So it’s not confirmed yet, but it sure sounds like a viable plan.
What do you think, guys? Would you watch – and who should be his first guests?…
