Real Housewives’ Sonja Morgan loses lawsuit, faces $7m debt
In another case of witless celebs who marry for money and watch it all end in flames, ‘Real Housewives of New York’ alumnus Sonja Morgan, who owes $7-million after losing a lawsuit has just lost another and could now lose her home.
The 47-year old former waitress agreed to finance a movie starring John Travolta in 2006, then backed out when her husband – a member of the JP Morgan family and 33-years her senior – filed for divorce.
A Federal Jury awarded the film company $7.06-million in damages in 2009 but Sonja declared bankruptcy, so they got nothing. The bankruptcy papers showed she has $13.5-million in assets and an income of $26,000 a month. But she’s $19.8-million in debt.
The film guys also accused Morgan, who has homes in France and Teluride, plus a $6-million home on New York’s upper East Side, of hiding millions in secret bank accounts. But she told the court that claim was “completely baseless.”
Sonja then sued her lawyers for losing the film case, demanding millions in damages for alleged ‘malpractice.’ But on Thursday that case’s arbitrator turned her down flat and now she must pay.
“I don’t agree with the judgment. I’m shocked,” she told the Post. “I’ve got to meet with my advisers.”
Asked if she might sell the NYC home to help settle bill, Sonja was not sure;
“I’m not thinking like that, but of course it’s scary,” she told the reporters.
On Thursday’s ‘Housewives’ Sonja claimed she was ‘heartbroken’ by the bankruptcy case, but amazingly her current lawyer still has some sense of hope;
“We’ll have to re-evaluate our options,” says Kevin Nash. “The bankruptcy case is continuing, and hopefully we’ll have a successful conclusion.”

Wow she’s got a lot of bad luck. This woman is definitely just doing this things to get all the money back from the case that she just lost. She just keeps on suing everyone but always keeps on losing every case that’s why she is not getting anything. This is just sad, I hope she just brings down her pride and accept her fault.

She looks like an older version of Paris Hilton. I’m not really a fan of their reality show, “Real Housewives of New York” but my friends watch this and they actually love it and the drama going on. I think Sonja Morgan is just hungry for money that is why she just won’t stop suing anyone until she wins one case. It’s sad how America has become, they are making the law system a business.

I feel bad for Sonja. I’m as far from wealthy “almost” as you can get… But, when you become use to a lifestyle, whatever it is, it’s hard to have it all ripped out from under you. For her daughter’s sake I hope she doesn’t lose her home.
I’ve been watching NYC since it started. Here’s my take. My like and dis-like list has changed some. Always liked Jill and Ramona still do! Liked Alex before.. Can’t stand her now!!!!! But, my least favorite never changed has ALWAYS been still is. Snobby, Hauty (one thing I agree with Alex about) Condescending, all around Witch LUANN!! She acts like she is the freakin Queen of the show? NOT! She left the Count and her TRUE personality came out! She wanted to be a Reality TV star! Also, she can’t sing a NOTE!!!
