‘The Office’ star Jenna Fischer reveals odd jobs (VIDEO)

Before making it to Hollywood, Jenna Fischer endured the common tale of odd jobs that Hollywood wannabes endure. She revealed during a round table with Hollywood Reporter that she once worked at a car wash for three years and was a telephone psychic.

“I’ve had the weirdest jobs, really truly,” said Fischer. “I’ve worked at a car wash for 3 years [in Missouri]. I really wanted to dry the outside of the car cause you were in the sun and you got to take the tips. But because I was smaller and everyone else was a dude, I had to go in the car and spray inside the windows.”

Then she moved to LA and needed more time for her acting career. Long and behold, a telephone psychic career was borne.

“Then I moved to LA and I felt like I needed more time for my acting career. Needed to be at home waiting for the phone to ring or for my beeper to go off. That was when you had beepers! Didn’t have cell phones. You would race to the closest pay phone”

But she had too much of a heart, she explained: “A lot of people were just very lonely. Older women who called and kind of just needed a friend. But when their free time was up, [I'd tell them]! I stopped after two weeks. I never even collected my paycheck cause I felt so guilty.”
