Matthew Perry Schedules a Rehab Timeout

(HMG Celebrity News) – Matthew Perry who has battled substance abuse issues for years announced he is making a pre-emptive strike with his usual biting humor. The Friends and Mr. Sunshine actor said Thursday he is going back to rehab to continue his ongoing recovery. “I’m making plans to go away for a month to focus on my sobriety and to continue my life in recovery,” Perry said. “Please enjoy making fun of me on the World Wide Web.” Perry has been in rehab twice before, for prescription drug abuse in 1997 and in 2001. Despite a trip to rehab, a People Magazine source insisted, “There was no relapse,” and said the stay is purely proactive.  In any case the pre-emptive announcement is a smart move and has the benefit of making it so that the patients and the staff at the rehab clinic he’s about to check into can’t sell Perry’s story off to the tabloids.
