Rick Springfield arrested and jailed briefly on suspicion of DUI in Malibu

(HMG Celebrity News) – Sad to see 80′s heartthrob Rick Springfield, after a rough night in Malibu where police arrested him on suspicion of DUI over the weekend.

Authorities say the soap actor-turned-crooner was pulled over in his 1963 Corvette and taken into custody when police smelled alcohol in his car and the singer failed a sobriety test. The 61-year-old “Jessie’s Girl” singer reportedly blew a 0.10% on the field sobriety test, and the legal limit in California is 0.08. Springfield was taken to jail, where he was later released on $5,000 bail.  The arrest came less than 24 hours before Springfield’s heavily promoted appearance as a guest star on Hawaii Five-O.

Earlier in the day, Springfield had attended The Los Angeles Times‘ Festival of Books at the University of Southern California promoting his new book “Late, Late at Night,”.
